Kali Gandaki Valley passing through the deepest gorge in the world and finally emerges to the wide valley of Jomsom , a Himalayan Shangri-la. Beginning the trek from Nayapul after a short drive of about 45 minutes from Pokhara. The trail passes over the Ghorepani pass and descends down to Kali Gandaki valley. The view of the first ray of the sun touching the pinnacles of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna from Ghorepani is truly spectacular. Along the route, fascinating traditional villages of Gurung, Magar & Thakali will keep you enthralled day after day. Once you reach Jomsom you can either trek to famous Mukthinath temple [ Temple of Lord Vishnu ] at 3710 meters or explore the fascinating villages around Jomsom.

Muktinath is a most important pilgrimage place for Buddhist and Hindus natural landscape and culture. Now you may reach there by road that is under construction . Both trekking and flying to Jomsom are possible.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu - Pokhara (1552m):
By Flight & Trek to Tikhadhunga
Fly to Pokhara which is just 30 minutes flight & straight way by driving 45 minutes to the place called Nayapul. Further you walk to the northen side of Bhurungdi Khola, the trail climbs to Hille and nearby Tirkedungha at Gurung Village . Little surrounding walk and over night stay at lodge. 2/3hours.

Day 02: Tikhadhunda - Ghorepani (2750m):
From Tikedungha the trail drops down and crosses the Burungdi Khola, then climbs all the way up to Ghorepani via very steeply up village Ulleri. After it the trails comes into the rodhodendron forest all the way to Ghorepani.Over night at lodge. 6/7hours.

Day 03: Ghorepani - Tatopani (1190m):
The trail descends steeply to Sikha, a large village & further descends to 380m to Ghar Khola Village . After crossing suspension bridge it climbs up at Tatopani. 5/6hours.

Day 04: Tatopani - Ghasa (2110m):
The trail now follows the Kali Gandaki river flows under the deep gorge by 2200m in between two 8000m mountaintops are only 38km apart. This trails further ascends to first Thakali village Ghasa. A paradise village for the bird specialists. Over night at lodge. 5/6hours.

Day 05: Ghasa - Larjung (2570m):
A steep climb through forest takes you to Lete Khola then reach to Lete. It further continue to the east side of the Kaligandaki reach you Larjung Village.Over night at lodge.

Day 06: Larjung - Marpha (2680m):
Today trail cross via Tukche at 2590m and walking further through a governmental established project produces fruits mainly apples and vegetables for the whole region until you get to Marpha Village . over night at lodge. 4/5hours.

Day 07: Marpha - Kagbeni (2810m):
The trail continues along the valley side , rising gradually before crossing over a low ridge to Jomsom Village.The interesting trail along the river all the way to the medieval-looking village of Kagbeni . Over night at lodge. 5/6hours.

Day 08: Kagbeni - Muktinath (3710m):
From Kagbeni the path climbs steeply to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar at 3200m. The trail climbs through a desert landscape till Jarkot Village . A further climb brings you to Muktinath. over night at lodge. 5/6hours.

Day 09: Muktinath - Jomsom (2715m):
From Muktinath you will retrace your steps to Jomsom and your trek ends at Jomsom.Over night at lodge. 5/6hours.

Day 10: Jomsom - Pokhara - Kathmandu:
By flight. At 30 min flight to Pokhara and then connecting flight to Katmandu or stay overnight at Pokhara.

New schedule for the Muktinath:

Because of the road construction from Beni to Muktinath via Jomsom is not pleasant to walk from Tatopani to Jomsom along the dusty road, so we may suggest you to take both way flight to / from Jomsom or to rent a jeep. It may reduce the trekking days of you but can make other program during your holiday.
